Hello Everyone!

This weekend, we open one of the best reviewed films of the year, the Cannes Film Festival's Palme d'Or winner - ANATOMY OF A FALL.  In addition, we're bringing a handful of screenings of the beloved TIM BURTON'S THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS just in time for its 30th Anniversary and Halloween. NYAD will stick around for one show a day for one more week and TAYLOR SWIFT THE ERAS TOUR will play for evening shows over the weekend, but if you still need to see the Almodovar short films, Thursday will be your last chance.

Do you have your tickets for our early access screening of my favorite film from TIFF this year - Alexander Payne's THE HOLDOVERS?  The film officially opens on Nov. 9, but we have a preview screening on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 2:00.  Tickets are $10 each and available now!  You can read more about the film and watch the trailer HERE.  And PRISCILLA, the new film about Priscilla Presley from Sofia Coppola (director of LOST IN TRANSLATION, THE VIRGIN SUICIDES, and MARIE ANTOINETTE), will open next Thursday evening - Nov. 2.  Tickets for opening weekend just went on sale today! "Open Caption Mondays" continue to be well-received - NYAD and ANATOMY OF A FALL will be presented with Open Captions (captions projected on the screen) on Monday, Oct. 30. (As a reminder, seating is no longer assigned on Mondays-Thursdays for traditional engagements.)

Synopsis for ANATOMY OF A FALL: "Sandra, Samuel and their visually impaired son Daniel have been living in a remote mountain location for the past year. When Samuel is found dead outside the house, an investigation for death in suspicious circumstances is launched. Amidst the uncertainty, Sandra is indicted: was it suicide or homicide? A year later Daniel attends his mother’s trial, a veritable dissection of his parents’ relationship." (Neon Rated)

Synopsis for THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS: "Tired of scaring humans every October 31 with the same old bag of tricks, Jack Skellington, the spindly king of Halloween Town, kidnaps Santa Claus and plans to deliver shrunken heads and other ghoulish gifts to children on Christmas morning. But as Christmas approaches, Jack's rag-doll girlfriend, Sally, tries to foil his misguided plans." (Disney)

Two professors from UD's Department of English are bringing back "Slasher Night at The Neon" - October 26! This year they are showing two classic horror films, THE THING, starring Kurt Russell and directed by John Carpenter, and AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, directed by John Landis.  A $20 ticket covers both films. THE THING will be the first film at 7:30, and after a 10-15 minute intermission, they'll start AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON. After the success of last year's selections, we are expecting a bigger crowd...so get your tickets early!

If you're into underground, fringe or cult classic cinema, there's a film series you're gonna want to check out - Cult Movie Mondays - and week #6 happens at The NEON on Monday, Oct 30rd at 7:30pm, with WNUF HALLOWEEN SPECIAL - written and directed by Lucky McKee. Tickets and all of the details for upcoming screenings are available on the series' official site!
Synopsis: "A very special screening of one of the most underrated horror gems of our time. The local legends The Breeders lended some music to this film. Starring Angela Bettis in the starring role with supporting roles from Anna Farris and Jeremy Sisto. Limited tickets remain for "TRIANGLE PARK - a documentary based on the first-ever NFL Football game, written and directed by Allen Farst. The film, for the first time, will uncover the facts around this seminal game in over 100 years. One of 14 original professional teams, the Dayton Triangles, played on Sunday October 3rd, 1920. The game was played in front of 5,000 fans. Farst goes to great depths to connect family decedents of former players even finding never before seen football treasures while leaning on football greats such as Troy Aikman, Ben Roethlisberger, Eric Dickerson, Joe Buck, Cooper Kupp, Joe Theismann, Larry Fitzgerald, Cris Collinsworth, Tony Dungy and more to uncover this generational story. Fans of our one-night-only music docs are gonna love IMMEDIATE FAMILY (from the director of THE WRECKING CREW).
