THE SIX TRIPLE EIGHT MLK DAY SCREENING

On Monday, January 20, we will continue our annual tradition of offering a FREE movie in conjunction with the community-wide observation and celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Day.  This event is targeted at teenage students - and we will plan to have a discussion following the screening with Judi Earley - Charity Adams Earley's daughter - to talk about the film, its themes and the community service that Charity Adams Earley continued to do while living in Dayton.  Please help us spread the word to any junior high & high school aged students and their families. DOORS WILL OPEN AT 10:30AM on MONDAY, JAN. 20...WITH THE SCREENING TO BEGIN AT APPROXIMATELY 11AM. SEATING IS FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED...ONE TICKET PER PERSON. "THE SIX TRIPLE EIGHT is inspired by the first and only Women’s Army Corps unit of Color to serve overseas in WWII. Despite facing racism and sexism - and grueling working conditions - they were committed to serving their country with honor and distinction. Given an extraordinary mission and united in their determination, these unsung heroes delivered hope and shattered barriers. Written and directed by Tyler Perry, the film stars Kerry Washington as Major Charity Adams, the commanding officer of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion." In the 1950's Charity Adams Earley moved to Dayton and became very active in the community.THE SIX TRIPLE EIGHT MLK DAY SCREENING showing at: January 20, 11:00 am
