BOX BROWN

TICKETS ONLY AVAILABLE FROM THE ORGANIZER OR IN-PERSON AT THE NEON STARTING JAN. 11! The Junior Leaguers Club of Dayton will present their 14th annual fundraiser on February 15, 2025 at noon. This year, the film is BOX BROWN: A BOX MARKED FREEDOM, directed by Rob Underhill and Aravind Ragupathi. This film has won many accolades and awards which is amazing since it was a 10 year project with a zero dollar budget. Everything was donated so the independent filmmaker could tell the story. This film was based on a true story when an enslaved man mailed himself to freedom in 1849. Organizer Jackie Colvard writes, "I remember seeing the one man play and reading the children’s book to my children, so I was excited when I heard about the film. This is part of African-American history, but so many people are unaware of the story. In such a time as this, let us not forget any of our history. So come out and support the film." Scholarship applications will be available for graduating seniors, and the screening will be followed by a discussion. Tickets for adults $25. (Includes film, popcorn, wine, and a soda) Tickets for students $10. (Includes film, popcorn, and a soda) Tickets can be purchased from Jackie Colvard or at THE NEON starting on Jan. 11.PT2HNR2025-02-15BOX BROWN"BOX BROWN"
